Mantero 1902 club // chapter 12

When a place

becomes tales

Beyond the landscape of Lake Como. Places, stories, people and atmospheres behind Mantero 1902's Spring/Summer 2026 collection

Some places simply provide a backdrop. Others become part of the creative process, reflected in colours, shaping the light of a photograph, suggesting unexpected combinations, rhythms and details.

They become far more than a landscape: they become a language.

For Mantero 1902, Lake Como is one of those places. It is where our roots lie, but above all, it is a constant source of inspiration. Not as a postcard-perfect destination, but as a collection of atmospheres, gestures and identities.

For the SS26 Memory Tales collection, this dialogue comes to life through four local realities, each offering a different perspective on the lake. A neighbourhood store, a rowing club, a historic hotel and a floral design studio. Four ways of experiencing the territory, four stories that become part of the same narrative alongside our own.

Micromercato Moltrasio

// The Tradition

Micromercato Moltrasio

// The Tradition

In the heart of Moltrasio stands a neighbourhood store that seems to have preserved the pace of another era.

Today's Micromercato traces its origins back to the historic Cooperativa Moltrasina, a meeting place that continues to welcome both locals and travellers with the same effortless warmth.

People come in to buy bread and leave with something more: the memory of a genuine encounter, spontaneous conversations and a true sense of community.

There is also a meaningful coincidence that makes this connection with Mantero 1902 even more special: both our stories began in 1902. Two different journeys, united by the ability to move through time without ever losing authenticity.

In the SS26 campaign, this atmosphere becomes part of the story. Because what inspires us is not only the place itself, but the way it continues to be lived every day.

“A place that feels untouched by time—today you might call it vintage. The classic neighbourhood store, where we offer carefully selected, high-quality products.”

Canottieri Moltrasio
// The Movement

Some people experience the lake from a different perspective: by crossing it.

The Canottieri Moltrasio rowing club, also founded in 1902, embodies over a century of rowing that continues to be passed down from generation to generation. Here, the relationship with the territory becomes movement. The lake is not simply a landscape to admire, but a place to train, to explore and to belong to. The rhythm of rowing becomes part of everyday life and of the growth of generations of athletes. In the collection, boats, oars and piers become much more than scenic elements. The colours of the rowing shells, the geometry of the structures and the cadence of each stroke create a visual language that naturally resonates with the collection's prints. A different, shared way of seeing the lake: not as a static landscape, but as something constantly in motion.

“It is a sport of balance, movement, and lightness. A journey of growth that leads to confronting oneself and others, through encounters, both national and international, and new perspectives. Moreover, it holds a magic all its own: gliding across the water, skimming the surface without ever diving in.”

Grand Hotel Tremezzo
// The Colour

When we think of holidays, our imagination often takes us to faraway destinations. Yet there is another way to experience summer: through changing light, a slower pace and an effortless sense of elegance.

This is where the dialogue with Grand Hotel Tremezzo begins: bringing together an icon of hospitality with the textile heritage of Mantero 1902. The two worlds meet in a dedicated silk scarf, where a design from the Archive is reinterpreted through the hotel’s colour palette. The pattern remains the same, but the way we perceive it changes: colour brings it into the present, placing it in a new setting and opening up a new expressive possibility. A seemingly simple gesture that reflects a broader idea of tradition: not preserving the past, but continuing to transform it.

In SS26, prints and garments naturally become part of this atmosphere. Designed to be worn, they accompany a way of experiencing leisure where every detail interacts with the light and spaces of the Grand Hotel.

This is our idea of a resort: not a geographical destination, but a state of mind. An effortless elegance shaped by freedom, changing colours and atmospheres to be enjoyed without hurry.

Anna Flower Designer
// The Composition

Colour, texture and composition are the tools Anna Flower Designer uses to shape every project. Flowers, plants and objects come together in installations that evolve with the seasons, transforming every space into a visual story. It is this shared sensitivity that made the collaboration with Mantero 1902 feel so natural, also celebrated through Blooming Stories, the event where floral and textile design meet in a single creative experience.

There is one gesture, in particular, that connects both worlds: composing. A bouquet takes shape through the balance of flowers, forms and colours. A print follows the same process, finding a new expression each time through the way it is created, worn and interpreted.

Two different creative languages, united by the same gesture: giving shape to a beauty that changes every time while remaining true to its identity.

“Working with flowers means letting yourself be guided by the season, research, and creativity. Every project is an opportunity to experiment and discover new combinations, always keeping attention to detail at the heart of the process.”

Micromercato Moltrasio, Canottieri Moltrasio, Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Anna Flower Designer and Mantero 1902: five different perspectives on the same territory, each capable of turning everyday life into inspiration. Through this dialogue, the SS26 Memory Tales collection finds one of its defining narratives: looking beyond Lake Como as a beautiful landscape and recognising it as part of an identity.

Because our story also lives in the places around us, in the relationships built over time and in the people who continue to shape this territory. It is about seeing what feels familiar and discovering it anew, every time, in a different light. It is not about collecting destinations or garments, but about learning how to look at them.

Every place holds a story, but only some continue to inspire new ones.
